South Deerfield Crews Completed Vehicle Stabilization Training

South Deerfield, MA — September 15 — Members of the South Deerfield Fire Department participated in a vehicle stabilization training exercise focused on the use of Res-Q-Jack stabilization jacks.

The training was presented by Firematic and gave firefighters an opportunity to work through several vehicle rescue scenarios. Crews practiced stabilizing vehicles that had come to rest on their sides and roofs, with attention placed on proper jack placement, strapping and overall stabilization.

Res-Q-Jack equipment is designed for vehicle stabilization and lifting during rescue operations. Firematic offers several Res-Q-Jack systems for light-, standard- and heavy-duty vehicle rescue applications. The equipment uses stabilization struts and straps to provide support during operations involving damaged or unstable vehicles.

The South Deerfield Fire District serves the South Deerfield community and operates from its station at 84 Greenfield Road. The district lists fire protection and emergency response as part of its local public safety services.

Hands-on stabilization training allows firefighters to practice equipment placement and crew coordination before those skills are needed during an actual vehicle rescue. The exercise also provided members with experience working around different vehicle positions and identifying suitable stabilization points. The department continued its training program with an emphasis on safe and organized vehicle rescue operations.
