Twin Mountain Fire Rescue Recognized 25 Years of Remembrance

Twin Mountain, NH — September 11 — Twin Mountain Fire Rescue commemorated the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks by honoring the lives lost and the emergency responders who served at the World Trade Center and other locations affected by the attacks.

This day holds significant meaning for the fire service, as departments nationwide honored the 343 members of the Fire Department of New York who lost their lives on September 11.

The FDNY Foundation also noted that over 400 additional FDNY members have since passed away due to illnesses linked to the World Trade Center.

The health impacts of the response efforts continued to be a concern for responders, recovery workers, and survivors.

The federal World Trade Center Health Program offers medical monitoring and treatment for those with certified 9/11-related health conditions.To date, the program has supported more than 145,000 responders and survivors from the impacted sites.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that individuals involved in the response and cleanup were exposed to dust, smoke, debris, and other harmful materials.

Some of these exposures have been associated with long-term health issues, including respiratory illnesses and various types of cancer.

For Twin Mountain Fire Rescue, located at 100 School Street, September 11 is a moment to reflect on those who did not come home and those who continue to live with the lasting effects of the response.
