Hands-On Training Keeps Riverton Extrication Skills Sharp

Riverton, Conn. — September 9, 2026 — Firefighters in Riverton spent the evening practicing vehicle extrication, using the tools and methods crews rely on to rescue people trapped in damaged vehicles.
The training enabled seasoned members to update their skills while giving newer firefighters hands-on experience with extrication equipment and procedures.
The session was conducted by the Riverton Volunteer Fire Company in Riverton, Connecticut. The department noted that it has recently welcomed several new firefighters, including junior recruits, and emphasized that regular training is essential for preparing the next wave of volunteers.
