Avon Volunteer Fire Department Reports 85 Calls in August

In August, the Avon Volunteer Fire Department answered 85 calls, responding to a variety of incidents including fire alarms, investigations, medical emergencies, vehicle crashes, and other urgent situations. 


Fire alarms made up the biggest portion of the department’s activity, totaling 30 responses that month. Crews also responded to 10 incidents involving smoke or gas, eight carbon monoxide alarms, and eight reports of downed wires. The department handled seven motor vehicle accidents, five medical assistance calls, four public assistance calls, and four other service requests. Firefighters also handled three fires, two mutual-aid requests, two special events, one illegal burn, and one additional alarm, for a total of 85 calls that month.
