New Ipswich, NH — September 7 — Members of the New Ipswich Fire Department participated in an Insight Fire Training thermal imaging course hosted by the Jaffrey Town Fire Department during the holiday weekend.The training took place on Friday and Saturday and was organized by the Monadnock Area Fire Chiefs’ Association.
The course emphasized tactical thermal imaging and its application in fireground situations.
It covered topics such as heat transfer, types of thermal imaging cameras, correct usage of the equipment, limitations, and typical uses during firefighting operations.The program included both classroom sessions and live-fire demonstrations.
This training allowed firefighters to enhance their skills in using thermal imaging cameras, especially in situations where visibility is restricted.
Being able to interpret the data from a thermal camera can help crews locate heat sources and assess conditions inside buildings.
The New Ipswich Fire Department prioritizes training as part of its mission, which includes incident response, thorough training, public education, and fire prevention.
As a volunteer department, it regularly prepares for various emergency scenarios, including fire, rescue, hazardous-material, and medical incidents.
The course was arranged by the Monadnock Area Fire Chiefs’ Association and conducted at the Jaffrey Town Fire Department.
It provided New Ipswich firefighters with an additional useful skill that they can apply in future emergency response situations.
