Canton Fire Cadet Program Receives 10 New Helmets

Canton, Conn. — September 4, 2026 — Canton Fire & EMS has incorporated 10 new fire helmets into its Fire Cadet Program, thanks to a donation from the Canton Volunteer Fire Company No. 1.
The new Morning Pride Ben 3 helmets were introduced into service to meet the program’s increasing demand for protective gear. Department officials noted that the number of cadets has exceeded the department’s current equipment supply.
The helmets will provide cadets with the necessary protective gear during training as they study firefighting and emergency services and get ready for potential future careers in the department.
The donation arrives as Canton keeps rebuilding and expanding its Fire Cadet Program. In May, the department noted that the program had enrolled 15 members, its highest number since 2010. The department has characterized the program as part of its initiative to expose young people to fire and EMS operations and cultivate future members.
