Remember, Teach, Carry On: Starksboro Firefighters Mark 25 Years

On Friday, firefighters and emergency-service agencies nationwide observed the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, honoring the responders and civilians who perished that day.
The Starksboro Volunteer Fire Department marked the anniversary by reflecting on the 343 FDNY members who lost their lives responding to the World Trade Center, as well as the generations of firefighters who have since joined the profession.
The department’s message also acknowledged a distinctive aspect of the 25th anniversary: some of today’s youngest firefighters had not even been born when the attacks took place. They are now part of a fire service influenced in part by the events of September 11 and the insights gained from that response.
