Greenland Fire Department Observed 25th Anniversary of September 11

Greenland, NH — September 11 — The Greenland Fire Department observed the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks by honoring the lives lost and the emergency personnel who acted that day.
The attacks resulted in the deaths of 2,977 individuals at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Among the victims were 343 firefighters from the FDNY, along with members of the New York City Police Department and the Port Authority Police Department.The 9/11 Memorial & Museum has continued to hold annual ceremonies to commemorate the victims and acknowledge the long-term impact of the attacks.
For the emergency services community, September 11 remains a powerful reminder of the dangers faced by firefighters, police officers, emergency medical technicians, and other responders.
Many responders and workers involved in the recovery efforts later developed health issues linked to their exposure at the disaster sites.The CDC’s World Trade Center Health Program continues to offer medical monitoring and treatment for individuals with certified 9/11-related health conditions.
The Greenland Fire Department, based at 13 Town Square, continues to provide fire and emergency medical services to its community.
The department’s September 11 remembrance acknowledged those who lost their lives, those who responded to the crisis, and those who continue to deal with the health effects that have persisted over the years.
