Lisbon Fire Department Added Ambulance 654 to Its Fleet

Lisbon, CT — September 4 — The Lisbon Fire Department began using its newly acquired Ambulance 654 on September 4, increasing the number of ambulances available for emergency response.

This 2015 Chevrolet ambulance was bought from the Andover Fire Department in Connecticut.

It replaced a 2011 ambulance that had become less reliable over time. The department explained that the new unit was brought in to ensure dependable emergency medical services for both residents and visitors in Lisbon.

Ambulance 654 was sent on its first mission just a short time after it was put into service.

After the initial call and transport, the ambulance was photographed at Backus Hospital in Norwich.

The Lisbon Fire Department is based at 45 Newent Road and offers fire, rescue, hazardous materials, and ambulance services to the local community.

It was established in 1941 and serves a town that spans approximately 16 square miles with a population of around 4,300.Lisbon also has agreements with nearby fire departments, including Jewett City, Griswold, Canterbury, and Baltic, to provide mutual aid when needed.

Adding Ambulance 654 improved the department’s emergency medical services fleet and provided a more modern replacement for the older ambulance.

The department’s ambulance service is also recognized as one of the regional ambulance providers in Connecticut.
