This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On Friday, a firefighter in Pawlet paused from the highest point in the local fire district to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks with a simple message: Never Forget.

The photo and message posted by the Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department highlighted the gap between rural Vermont and Manhattan, while underscoring that the sacrifices of firefighters and other emergency responders continue to be a part of the fire service’s legacy.
