Specialized Well Rescue: Maynard Firefighters Reunite Trapped Cat with Family

Marcy, NY - Volunteer firefighters deployed technical rescue skills Sunday evening to carry out an unusual animal rescue, safely extracting a family cat that had fallen down an open well.

On the evening of September 12, the Maynard Fire Department was dispatched to a residential property following reports that a pet was trapped at the bottom of a deep well shaft.

Responding personnel evaluated the confined space, checked for environmental stability, and devised a specialized retrieval plan to access the frightned feline without causing injury. Utilizing targeted rescue equipment, crews carefully reached the bottom of the well, secured the animal, and brought it safely back to the surface.

The uninjured cat was promptly reunited with its grateful family on scene.
