Boston, Mass. — September 12 — During Open Streets Boston, residents of Mattapan had the chance to interact with local public-safety agencies, as firefighters and other city staff offered safety advice and hands-on demonstrations.
The Boston Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Education Unit, Fire Commissioner Rodney Marshall, and Boston Fire Cadets participated alongside representatives from the Boston Police Department, Boston EMS, and other city agencies at the Mattapan event.
The event took place on Blue Hill Avenue, between River Street and Babson Street. Boston’s official Open Streets calendar includes the Mattapan event on September 12, 2026, starting at 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m., with the road closed to cars to transform it into a pedestrian-oriented community area
