Chester Fire Department Promoted Hughes and Sheley

Chester, NH — August 20 — The Chester Fire Department announced the promotions of Firefighter/EMT Ethan Hughes to the rank of lieutenant and Firefighter/EMT Loran Sheley to captain. The department stated that these promotions strengthened the leadership structure within the officer ranks and added more leadership resources for the community.

Both Hughes and Sheley had previously served as members of the Chester Fire Department before taking on their new roles.

According to town records, both firefighters were listed as active members of the department. Sheley had previously held the rank of lieutenant and also served as a forest fire warden. Hughes was also listed as a department member and had served as a deputy fire warden.

The Chester Fire Department operates from its current location at 27 Murphy Drive and functions as a combination fire department.

Town planning documents noted that the department responds to more than 450 calls annually and is part of several regional mutual-aid organizations, including the Border Area Mutual Aid District and the New Hampshire Federation of Mutual Aid.

The officer positions within the department involve responsibilities such as leading fire operations, delivering training, managing emergency responses, and coordinating with other agencies.

These promotions have added more personnel with leadership roles as the department continues to provide fire and emergency medical services to the residents.

The Chester Fire Department has been operating from its current station on Murphy Drive since it opened in 1999.
