Barnstable Fire Department Held 25th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance

Barnstable, MA — September 11 — The Barnstable Fire Department held its 18th Annual September 11 Day of Remembrance Ceremony on September 11, commemorating 25 years since the events of September 11, 2001.Firefighters, police officers, community members, and guests came together at St.Mary’s Episcopal Church to honor those who lost their lives and the emergency personnel who responded during the attacks.

The event featured prayers, music, the Firefighter’s Prayer, a reading of "Life Behind the Badge," and the traditional Signal 5-5-5-5.

Participants also included members of the Barnstable Police Department, such as Deputy Chief Jennifer Ellis, retired Officer Brian Morrison, and the department’s Honor Guard.

This remembrance continued a long-standing tradition in Barnstable, with historical records showing a September 11 procession from a local fire station to St.

Mary’s Episcopal Church.This practice highlights the ongoing collaboration between public safety agencies and the community.

Firefighters from the Barnstable Fire Department also attended and took part in the ceremony.

Judy Waldon-Scarafile was responsible for organizing the day’s events, while St.Mary’s Episcopal Church provided the venue and support for the gathering.

The 25th anniversary ceremony offered local emergency service workers a chance to remember the firefighters, police officers, flight crews, air traffic controllers, and civilians who were tragically lost on September 11, 2001.
