September 11: The Lawnside Fire Company Station 272 took a moment to honor one of its own, Kevin "KG" Gaines, whose friendship and devotion had a profound impact on both the Lawnside neighborhood and the department.
Gaines worked for the Camden City Fire Department and the Lawnside Volunteer Fire Company, also referred to as the 272 Knock Down Crew. Later, he received a proclamation from the Boro of Lawnside honoring his services to the community, volunteer firefighting, and professional service.
With the words "Forever in our hearts," the department's memorial graphic depicts Gaines as a firefighter, brother, friend, and family member. For Lawnside firefighters, the remembrance reflects the close bonds that exist within the fire service. Gaines is remembered not only for his work as a firefighter, but also for the relationships he built with fellow members and the community he served.
The Lawnside Fire Company continues to carry his memory with its members, honoring a firefighter whose impact reached beyond the firehouse.
