Prospect Park Firefighters Remembered Those Lost on 9/11

PROSPECT PARK, NJ — September 11 — Members of the Prospect Park Volunteer Fire Department joined fire and emergency service organizations nationwide in honoring those who lost their lives during the September 11, 2001, attacks.
Twenty-five years before, 343 members of the Fire Department of the City of New York were killed while responding to the World Trade Center.
Among those who did not return home that day were firefighters, officers, EMTs, and civilians.
For the emergency services community, September 11 served as a constant reminder of the value of training, teamwork, and preparedness.
The 343 firefighters came from different companies and assignments within the FDNY, including chiefs, company officers, firefighters, and other department personnel.
The impact of the attacks continued long after that day.
Many FDNY members later died from health problems connected to their work at the World Trade Center site.
At the Prospect Park Volunteer Fire Department, located at 106 Brown Ave., Prospect Park, NJ 07508, the department continues to recognize their service and preserve the memory of those who gave their lives.
