Inspiring Future Responders: Barnegat Light Fire Company Hosts Long Beach Township Junior Police Academy

Barnegat Light, NJ - Local first responders welcomed the next generation of public safety leaders on Wednesday, hosting a comprehensive, hands-on educational experience designed to introduce aspiring young recruits to the realities of community emergency services.

On August 19, the Barnegat Light Volunteer Fire Company 1 opened its bay doors to cadets from the Long Beach Township Junior Police Academy in Ocean County. The visiting group—comprising enthusiastic 10-to-13-year-olds—spent the day engaging with active emergency personnel to gain direct insight into firefighting operations, marine safety, and emergency medical services.

The immersive itinerary offered the future responders a full spectrum of public safety disciplines. Cadets began their morning with an operational tour of the local U.S. Coast Guard Station before arriving at the firehouse to explore frontline fire apparatus, personal protective gear, and specialized rescue tools.

The recruits continued their journey with an in-depth walkthrough of the Barnegat Light First Aid Squad to learn about pre-hospital emergency care and life-saving EMS equipment.
