Guilford Firefighters Marked 25 Years Since September 11

GUILFORD, CT — September 11 — The Guilford Fire Department, located at 390 Church Street, Guilford, CT, United States, 06437, observed the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks by honoring the firefighters, emergency personnel, and civilians who lost their lives.

The attacks resulted in the deaths of 2,977 individuals, among whom 343 were New York City firefighters.

The National September 11 Memorial & Museum continued to pay tribute to those who were lost, while also acknowledging the efforts of responders at the World Trade Center and those who were impacted by health issues linked to the aftermath.

The 2026 anniversary included a seventh moment of silence during the Memorial’s ceremony to honor those who died from illnesses and injuries related to 9/11.

The Memorial noted that thousands of first responders, rescue and recovery workers, relief workers, and residents of lower Manhattan have since died from health complications connected to the events of that day.

For Guilford firefighters, September 11 served as a chance to remember those who were lost and to emphasize the significance of health, safety, training, and preparedness for emergency responders.
