Pomfret-Teago Firefighters Remembered Those Lost on September 11

POMFRET, VT — September 11 — The Pomfret-Teago Volunteer Fire Department, located at 2026 Pomfret Road, Pomfret, VT, United States, 05067, honored the firefighters, emergency workers, and civilians who lost their lives during the September 11, 2001 attacks.
On that day, nearly 1,000 firefighters and approximately 2,000 police officers responded to the World Trade Center.
Over 100 ambulances also arrived within the first hour.According to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, 343 members of the New York City Fire Department and 23 NYPD officers lost their lives that day.
For those in fire and emergency medical services, the anniversary served as a reminder of the values of service, teamwork, training, and duty.
The Pomfret-Teago Volunteer Fire Department has continued this tradition, providing volunteer fire and emergency services to the Pomfret community from two stations.The department was established in 2012 through the merger of the Pomfret and Teago volunteer fire departments.
The September 11 anniversary was a time to remember those who served, those who were lost, and the emergency workers who kept the work going forward.
