Hands-on Hydraulics: Three Quakertown First Responders Complete Rigorous Pump Operations Course

Quakertown, NJ - Three dedicated first responders from the Quakertown Fire Company (Station 91 Fire/Rescue) successfully expanded their operational fireground capabilities through specialized technical training.

Throughout the week leading up to August 16, Firefighters Marc Wirasnik and Alec Roberts, alongside Firefighter/EMT Tyler Unkert, completed an intensive 24-hour Pump Operator training course conducted at the Hunterdon County Emergency Services Training Center.

The comprehensive program challenged the students with the core physics of moving water under pressure, mechanical pump operations, and practical fireground water supply applications. Crews mastered friction loss calculations, intake-to-discharge pressure regulation, and tactical engine operations necessary for sustaining reliable attack lines during structure fires.

Demonstrating immediate commitment to the department, newly voted-in members Wirasnik and Roberts jumped directly into the demanding coursework alongside Unkert right after joining. Their certification reinforces the department's operational readiness and apparatus pumping capabilities across the community.
