Killingworth Members Completed Fire and EMS Training

KILLINGWORTH, CT — AUGUST 17 — The Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company honored members who successfully completed additional training in fire suppression, emergency medical services, and leadership roles.

Firefighter James Henderson completed the Connecticut Firefighter I and II training programs and served as a squad leader throughout the course.

He also obtained EMT certification and earned a Q endorsement, which permits firefighters to operate fire apparatus in accordance with Connecticut state regulations.The state clarified that the Q endorsement allows qualified firefighters to drive fire engines and other emergency vehicles.

Junior Firefighter Sean Link completed the Introduction to the Fire Service and Advanced Fire Service programs offered by the Connecticut Fire Academy.

Following this, he was chosen as a counselor for the ASAC 14 class.

These accomplishments highlight the company's commitment to ongoing education and training.

As an all-volunteer department, Killingworth provides fire, rescue, and hazardous-material response services.The company also maintains mutual-aid agreements with several neighboring departments, including Chester, Clinton, Deep River, Durham, Haddam, Madison, and North Madison.

For volunteer fire departments, continuous certification and leadership development are essential for maintaining readiness and enhancing regional emergency response capabilities.
