— September 7, 2026 — First responders, medical professionals, retail staff, customer service representatives, and others who kept up their jobs while many others observed the holiday were honored by the Atwood Hose Fire Company.
The fire department urged people who had the day off to use it to relax and rejuvenate in a statement sent out on September 7. Additionally, the agency thanked those whose professions required them to labor throughout the holiday.
First responders, medical professionals, retail employees, and customer service representatives who continued to serve the community were all specifically acknowledged in the statement.
While families and communities congregate on holidays, emergency service personnel may still have to fulfilll their usual staffing and response duties. Holidays may be spent on duty and prepared to respond by firefighters, EMS providers, dispatchers, and other public safety personnel.
