This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

September 4, 2026 — When a tree branch fell over primary power lines above 161 Moosup Pond Road, members of the Atwood Hose Fire Company were called to the scene.

Around 7:01 a.m., the company was sent out. Eversource was informed and asked to respond as firefighters arrived and blocked the road.

Firefighters helped with traffic and vehicle movement while they awaited the utility company. A tractor-trailer and a school bus were pulled down the road to the nearest spot where they could safely turn around.

About half an hour after being informed, Eversource showed up. Utility workers removed the tree limb and secured the electrical lines.

The route was reopened and Atwood Hose units were put back into service when the utility danger was removed.
