SCBA Skills in Focus: Junior and Probationary Firefighters Build Confidence During Monday Night Drill in Atlantic County

Egg Harbor City, NJ - Germania Volunteer Fire Company members have conducted a Monday night training evolution in Atlantic County focused on foundational firefighter development and early-career skill building for junior and probationary personnel.


On 10 August in Atlantic County, junior and probationary members have been introduced to SCBA equipment and full protective gear under the guidance of experienced firefighters, allowing them to become familiar with breathing apparatus operation, donning procedures, and movement while fully equipped.


Training has emphasized safe handling, basic confidence building, and comfort in restricted visibility conditions, ensuring new members begin developing essential skills required for interior firefighting operations.


The drill has been led and supported by two company firefighters, reinforcing mentorship within the department and preparng members for upcoming fire school training and future operational readiness.
