Fair Lawn, NJ - Fair Lawn Fire Department members have continued their “Training Tuesday” evolution in Bergen County, focusing on water rescue readiness and operational proficiency in challenging flood and swift water environments.

Company 1 members have conducted a Boro Drill where firefighters from all companies have participated in dry suit training operations. These specialized suits are utilized during water rescue incidents, particularly in scenarios involving motorists trapped in vehicles during flooding or fast-moving water conditions.

On 25 August in Bergen County, members who have obtained boat licensing qualifications have also conducted hands-on operational training on the Passaic River, practicing vessel handling, navigation, and coordinated rescue techniques under controlled conditions.

With recent flash flooding events highlighting the increasing need for rapid water response capability, the department has placed strong emphasis on preparedness, safety procedures, and inter-company coordination. The training has reinforced real-world response readiness for water-related emergencies, ensuring members remain capable of deploying specialized equipment effectively when required.
