Oakland, NJ - Firefighters from Oakland Fire Department’s Station 10 spent time with preschool students from GAN Avraham, introducing them to the world of firefighting through an engaging, hands-on visit designed to build early awareness and comfort around emergency services.

During the visit, firefighters spoke with the students about what it means to serve as a first responder in the community, explaining their role in both fire suppression and medical emergencies in a way that was easy for young learners to understand. The interaction allowed students to ask questions, explore gear, and gain a better sense of the people behind the uniforms.

The event, which took place on 25 August in Alameda County, gave the children an up-close look at a fire engine and the tools used during emergency responses. Firefighters demonstrated equipment and walked students through how it is used on calls, helping turn curiosity into learning.

The highlight of the visit came when students were given the chance to spray water, creating an exciting and memorable experience while reinforcing basic fire safety awarenes in a fun and interactve way.

The outreach effort not only introduced students to firefighting but also helped build positive connections between responders and the community—laying the foundation for trust, safety awareness, and perhaps inspiring future firefighters.
