HALLOWELL, ME — September 2 — The Hallowell Fire Department has announced Theodore Marshall as its new fire chief, taking over from James Owens, who retired after a 51-year career in the fire service.The department listed Marshall as fire chief and operates from 2 Coos Lane in Hallowell.

Marshall started his career in fire service as a volunteer in 2011 while he was serving on active duty in the U.S.

Marine Corps.After leaving the military in 2013, he worked as a full-time firefighter-paramedic in Havelock, North Carolina, before returning to Maine.

In 2015, Marshall joined the Augusta Fire Department and later served with the Maine Forest Service on wildland fire assignments.

He also completed the Fire Officer Academy at the Maine Fire Service Institute through Southern Maine Community College, graduating along with other Maine fire officers in 2020. Marshall assumed leadership as the department continued to provide fire protection and emergency response services to the community.
