AUGUSTA, ME — August 28 — Battalion Chief Jason Farris concluded his last shift with Augusta Fire-Rescue at 7 a.m., bringing to a close more than 25 years of service with the department.

Farris started his career with Augusta Fire on May 7, 2001, and was promoted to battalion chief of A Shift on February 19, 2014.

Throughout his time with the department, he held various operational and leadership positions and was a consistent and recognizable figure during emergency situations in Augusta and nearby areas.

In addition to his work in Augusta, Farris was actively involved in the broader Maine fire service.

Earlier in his career, he served as fire chief in Pittston, where he contributed to strengthening the volunteer fire department, securing funding for equipment, and overseeing the construction of a new fire station.

While serving as a battalion chief in Augusta, Farris was also involved in responding to structure fires, hazardous material incidents, and mutual-aid operations across the region.

His retirement signals the end of a long and dedicated career centered on fireground leadership, training, and service to the community.

Members of Augusta Fire-Rescue acknowledged Farris for his leadership, experience, and dedication to the department and extended their best wishes for his future in retirement.
