Chester, NH - Chester Fire Department personnel conducted extensive vehicle extrication training on August 17, 2026, working alongside representatives from Firematic to sharpen rescue operations and improve familiarity with updated equipment.

Crews began the session with a refresher on vehicle stabilzation techniques, utilizing rescue jacks and cribbing methods to ensure safe and secure scene control prior to patient access. Emphasis was placed on proper positioning, stability checks, and maintaining a controlled work area during all phases of extrication.

On August 17, 2026, members transitioned into hands-on operations with the department’s battery-operated Hurst extrication tools, practicing cuts, spreads, and displacement techniqes on simulated vehicle scenarios.

Multiple evolutions were completed, allowing crews to rotate through different roles and build confidence in tool handling and coordinated team movement.

Throughout the training, personnel discussed alternative approaches to various vehicle entrapment situations, sharing ideas and refining techniques to improve efficiency and safety on real-world incidents.
