Falmouth Firefighters Respond to Fatal Drowning at Jenkins Pond

FALMOUTH, MA — August 31, 2026 — A 911 caller said Falmouth Fire and Rescue was dispatched to Jenkins Pond Monday nite for a report of a friend who had gone under the water and could not be found.
The call came in at about 5:49 p.m. Falmouth Fire and Rescue sent Engine 4, Ambulance 3 and a dive team boat to the Jenkins Pond beach.
Firefighters found an 18-year-old man from Vernon, Conn. in the water and pulled him out of the pond. Crews immediately began life-saving efforts, including CPR. The man was taken to Falmouth Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The man was paddleboarding with a second person when he went into the water, police said. Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office are investigating the circumstances of the death.
The Joint Base Cape Cod Emergency Team assisted Falmouth Fire and Rescue in the response.
