MILLWOOD, NY — August 9 — The Millwood Fire Company recognized the dedication of Steven Bruckenthal, a long-time volunteer whose contributions to the fire service encompassed interior firefighting, leadership within the company, and consistent emergency response.

Bruckenthal was currently serving as the company secretary and was listed as an active member and Emergency Medical Responder.

According to Millwood Fire's current member records, he had been a member since 2008, while his professional profile noted that his volunteer service with the company began in 2001.The department's records also noted that he had previously been recognized as Firefighter of the Year.

The Millwood Fire Company, based at 100 Mill wood Road, is an all-volunteer organization that provides fire protection to the local community and offers mutual aid to nearby departments.

The company reported having about 40 active firefighters and responding to over 400 emergency calls annually.
