BEDFORD HILLS, NY — August 18 — Local emergency workers from Bedford Hills gathered for a joint water rescue training event that emphasized communication, coordination, and hands-on rescue techniques.

The Bedford Hills Fire Department, located at 332 Bedford Road, was the first department to respond to the training.

They were joined by personnel from the Katonah Fire Department, Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Yorktown Heights Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team, and Bedford Recreation and Parks staff.

The training took place at the Bedford Hills Town Pool, situated at 60 Haines Road, which is operated by the Town of Bedford’s Recreation and Parks Department.

During the session, responders practiced water rescue methods and worked together with fire, emergency medical services, and pool staff to improve coordination.

The exercise also provided an overview of Yorktown Heights’ dive rescue capabilities, helping participants understand how specialized resources can be used effectively in situations requiring a dive response on the water.
