After hosting the 2026 Nassau County Firemen's Association Parade and an America 250 celebration in Oceanside, the Oceanside Fire Department is reflecting on a full day of fire service tradition, community events, and celebration.

Departments from all throughout Nassau County participated in the procession, which passed through Oceanside on July 18, 2026. According to event listings, Oceanside Firemen's Memorial Field, located at 88 Mott Street, hosted a music and fireworks after the procession, which started at around 6 p.m.

According to the Oceanside Fire Department, Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder acted as honorary grand marshal after the Nassau County Sheriff's Department Honor Guard presented the colors. Leading the host department were Chiefs Lynch, Klein, Sparberg and Sitzman, along with Grand Marshal and former Chief Richard Bedell.

The department also welcomed Town Supervisor John Ferretti, Councilwoman Laura Ryder, Legislator Patrick Mullaney and former Island Park Fire Department Chief and former Congressman Anthony D’Esposito, along with firefighters and representatives from neighboring departments.

Fire companies from throughout Nassau County filled the parade route as residents lined Long Beach Road to watch the apparatus and marching companies pass.

The parade also included community organizations after the cancellation of Oceanside's Memorial Day Parade. That change gave local groups an opportunity to participate alongside the county's fire companies and helped make the event both a fire-service gathering and a broader community celebration.

The parade concluded at Fireman’s Field, where participating departments passed in review. From the reviewing stand, Father Christopher Costigan, the department chaplain, announced each department as it entered the field, with World War II veteran David Marshall assisting with the review.

The evening then shifted into the America 250 celebration, marking the nation's 250th anniversary in 2026. A concert presented by Supervisor Ferretti and Councilwoman Ryder followed, along with food trucks, vendors and activities for residents.
