OCEANSIDE, NY — August 8, 2026 — Every year, fire departments from all across Nassau County congregated in Oceanside for the Nassau County Firemen's Association Parade, where they competed in a number of best-looking categories.

The event was hosted by the Oceanside Fire Department, who also declared the victors after the procession.

Valley Stream won Best Appearing Overall Department, the top honor. Oceanside won both the Best Appearing Junior Fire Department competition and the 46-and-over category.

Second Battalion and Nassau County competitions were among the awards given out that evening. In the Second Battalion competition, Freeport was named first in Best Appearing Department, followed by Island Park and Baldwin. Oceanside won the Junior Fire Department category, with Island Park finishing second.

At the Nassau County level, Lynbrook took first place in the Best Appearing 30–45 category.

In the 46-and-over category, Valley Stream finished first, Oceanside second and Freeport third.

Valley Stream then took Best Appearing Overall, while Oceanside won Best Appearing Junior Fire Department. Hicksville placed second and Lynbrook third in that category.
