Eastampton, N.J. — August 10 — Crews from the Eastampton Fire and Rescue Department conducted practical training on roof ventilation and forced entry in a property that was scheduled for demolition.
The municipality offered the training opportunity, which gave firemen the chance to practice skills that can be challenging to duplicate in a station setting while working in a residential building that was due for removal.
Crews worked on roof operations for ventilation and practiced turning windows into access points throughout the exercise. Firefighters had the chance to practice in a safe setting while working with the building elements and equipment used in these operations thanks to the exercises.
Before those abilities are required on a real fireground, acquired-structure training can give emergency response personnel useful expertise with building layout, tool positioning, roof conditions, and crew coordination.
Eastampton Fire-Rescue serves Eastampton Township and surrounding communities. The department was established in 1998 and currently operates as a volunteer department with 25 firefighters, according to the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety's 2026 directory.
The department thanked the township for making the property available and noted that these training opportunities help keep firefighters prepared for emergencies.
