The Amherst Fire Department participated in the 2026 Pan-Mass Challenge, a two-day, 177-mile bicycle ride from Worcester to Provincetown, alongside Steve Telega, an employee of the Amherst Department of Public Works.
Along with Telega, firefighters Nate Burgess, Ryan Gwyther, Nick Chirekos, and Dylan Dincer took part in the ride to raise money for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's cancer research and treatment. The 2026 PMC took place on August 1-2.
For Dana-Farber research, the Amherst Fire Department team raised $24,000. The PMC gives Dana-Farber 100% of the money raised by riders.
