On August 3, the Oneco Fire Company and its mutual assistance partners, Atwood Hose Fire Company and Sterling Fire Department, participated in a rural water supply training exercise.

Firefighters rely on tanker shuttle operations and dry hydrants for water supply during major fires because the community lacks a municipal hydrant system. The drill's main objectives were to coordinate water shuttle operations and use a dry hydrant that was placed in a nearby pond earlier this year.

When significant amounts of water are needed during a crisis, departments can better coordinate and understand their tasks by training together.
