Regional Firefighters Practiced Rural Water Supply

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Monson, MA. — August 2 — At Forest Lake and Thorndike Mill & Power, the Monson Fire Department participated in regional tanker shuttle training alongside firemen from Palmer, Belchertown, Bondsville, Three Rivers, and Brimfield. Establishing a reliable water supply in places without municipal hydrants was the main goal of the exercise. About 62,000 gallons of water were drawn from the fill site by crews, who then used a tanker to deliver the water to the Forest Lake disposal site.

Firefighters worked on departmental coordination, communication, water movement, and apparatus operations. Crews were better equipped to handle rural situations involving substantial water supplies thanks to the training. Collaborating also improved departmental cooperation for upcoming emergency situations that need for tanker shuttle operations.
