This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Newport, N.H. — August 6 — Pumping, drafting, and apparatus operations were the main topics of the Newport Fire Department's nighttime training. Members worked on creating a draft, running pumps in various scenarios, and ensuring a consistent water supply for fireground operations. Ryan Palmer made arrangements for access to the LaValley Building Supply location where the training was conducted.

Firefighters were able to rehearse water supply techniques in a controlled environment at the draft site. As they worked through real-world evolutions, members strengthened pump operation, communication, and apparatus synchronization. Frequent practical training boosted the department's overall preparedness for emergency calls in Newport and the neighboring areas and assisted firefighters in maintaining the skills necessary for efficient water supply operations.
