King Ferry, NY - The King Ferry Fire Department recently engaged with students from Southern Cayuga Central School as part of a summer driver and traffic safety education program.

Led by Chief Scott Shaw and Rescue Squad Captain Michele Shaw, members of the department provided instruction on roadway safety, particularly emphasizing how motorists should properly respond to emergency vehicles operating with lights and sirens.

Students were also given an overview of Rescue 1 and its specialized equipment, with a strong focus on vehicle extrication tools and their role in emergency response operations. The interactive session offered students a closer understanding of the fire service and the demands of emergency work.
