Cato, N.Y. — July 18 — Phillip, a junior member of the Ira Volunteer Fire Department, participated in fire and emergency services-related events and training at the New York State Junior Fire and EMS Weekend. Young members had the chance to work with other junior firefighters, acquire experience in a supervised environment, and learn fundamental response techniques throughout the event. Junior firefighter programs help departments develop a future volunteer base while introducing younger individuals to emergency services.

Phillip's involvement was encouraged by the Ira Volunteer Fire Department as part of the department's continuous efforts to recruit new members. Alongside other young emergency service workers, Phillip had the chance to study, train, and acquire experience over the weekend.
