Cato, N.Y. — July 14 — Members of the Cato Fire Department worked in hot summer weather while participating in water-based training. Firefighters were able to exercise in and near the water while honing practical abilities during the program. During the simulation, participants collaborated and went over protocols that could help with future responses involving lakes, ponds, or other waterways.
The practical exercise also offered a chance to develop collaboration and communication abilities in a safe environment. To maintain operational readiness and improve firefighter skills, the Cato Fire Department continued to conduct frequent training exercises. The department provided fire safety and emergency response services to the Cato neighborhood from its headquarters at 2569 East Main St.
