FDNY Rescues Family of Four From Flooded Queens Basement

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On July 18, a family of four was saved by FDNY personnel from a flooded basement at 47-04 69th St. in Queens.

When Engine 292 arrived at the house at around 12:30 p.m., they discovered waist-high water streaming into the basement. Water and debris had blocked a doorway, trapping the residents.

Firefighters divided into two groups and looked for another entrance. Members reached the household by forcing open doors after entering thru the second story. Members of Ladder 136 led the residents to the backyard and used a portable ladder to assist them in across a fence.

The four occupants were all safely rescued. There were no reported injuries.
