The Villages, FL - At approximately 5:00pm on 8/7/25, a house in the 800 block of the Village of Sabal Chase was struck by lightning. The homeowners heard the strike, but were fortunately alerted to the fire by their neighbors and quickly exited the home. Firefighters arriving on scene found heavy smoke pushing from the eaves and roof of the garage. One firefighter, J. Rogers found and removed a cat successfully while performing the primary search. Another cat was removed safely during the secondary search of the home. Firefighters contained the fire to the attic space above the garage and it is reported that one firefighter received a minor injury.
