West Greenwich, R.I. — July 23 — As a member of the Connecticut Interstate Fire Crew, Lieutenant Tim Cure of West Greenwich Vol Fire Co. No. 1 was sent to Quebec. Outside of Val-d'Or, Cure worked alongside other qualified staff to support wildfire suppression efforts. During the 2026 wildfire season, the Connecticut Interstate Fire Crew participated in a regional response that dispatched trained wildland firefighters to support Canadian agencies.

Crew members received training in incident operations, safety protocols, and wildfire suppression. Cure's deployment gave Quebec's ongoing fireground operations more personnel. When more resources were needed, the assignment demonstrated the function of skilled local firefighters in regional and international wildfire response operations.
