West Chester, PA. — July 1 — To improve water delivery operations in places without fire hydrants, Goshen Fire Company held a drafting training exercise at Chester Creek. Firefighters demonstrated how engines may draw water from a natural source during emergency situations by practicing drafting water using both large and small equipment. After the drill, the water was securely reintroduced into the creek.
In distant and rural areas with limited access to hydrants, drafting is still a critical firefighting technique. The practical exercise helped workers stay prepared for situations requiring alternate water sources by reinforcing pump operations, hose management, and coordinated water supply tactics.
