Ellijay, GA - The Gilmer County Fire Rescue participated in advanced stroke education led by Dr. Martinez, aimed at enhancing prehospital stroke care and improving patient outcomes.

The session covered stroke types, treatment options, medications, and surgical and interventional procedures, with a strong emphasis on early recognition of large vessel occlusions. Crews gained valuable insight into how rapid assessment and decision-making in the field directly impact the speed and effectiveness of hospital treatment.

The training also reinforced the importance of clear communication with receiving facilities and appropriate patient transport decisions, ensuring individuals receive the right level of care as quickly as possible.
