Justus Fire Company Adds Second LUCAS 3 Device

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On July 4, the Justus Volunteer Fire Company expanded their ambulance fleet's capacity for advanced cardiac treatment by installing a second Stryker LUCAS 3 Automated Chest Compression System.

Since volunteer staffing has grown, the department has been using a LUCAS device on one ambulance for a number of years. This has allowed two transport ambulances to be used more frequently. During cardiac arrest situations, the gadget consistently performs automated chest compressions, freeing up EMS workers to concentrate on other vital patient care duties.
