Monroeville, PA. — July 9 — After earning their black shields and becoming designated inside firefighters, FF/EMT Dakota Brazelton and Live-In FF/EMT Scott Burger were acknowledged by Monroeville Volunteer Fire Department Company 1. The accomplishment came after the necessary training, skill assessments, and operational standards for internal structure firefighting were successfully completed.

In accordance with nationally recognized safety requirements, inside firefighters are qualified to carry out vital fireground duties like ventilation, search and rescue, and fire suppression. By adding two qualified inside firefighters ready to assist emergency responses and safeguard the Monroeville neighborhood, the achievement improved the department's operational preparedness.
