OAKDALE, PA. — July 15 — In order to prepare firemen for situations involving disabled personnel on elevated structures, the North Fayette Township VFD, 7678 Steubenville Pike, held a roof rescue training exercise. The simulation mimicked a medical emergency requiring a coordinated rescue from a roof, such as an electrical shock or heat-related illness. A ladder truck was set up, the patient was safely lowered to waiting EMS personnel, and the patient was put in a Stokes basket.

Additionally, firefighters studied rescue techniques for various roof types and ladder truck setups. As the township's potential for additional rescue situations increased due to ongoing commercial and residential growth, the training improved operational readiness.
